Writing a TV series sometimes requires even more structure and discipline than feature film scripts. After all, you have to keep all the episodes together and not miss a single detail, or else all the long work will fall apart. But don't let that scare you: Story Architect will help you keep all your material in one place, even if you're writing a remake of Doctor Who.
If you don't have Story Architect app yet or downloaded it a second ago, read the instructions. Briefly: go to the download page, go through the standard program installation procedure and create a project inside. A step by step guide to getting to know Story Architect is here.
Let's say we decided to make a series called Cat's House. We create a project, choose the "Screenplay" type, enter the title, and goto the main working area.
The first series is written. Can the script of the second one be put into a separate document? Of course it can. Click on the "+ Add Document" button at the bottom of the left panel.
This brings us to the window for selecting the type of document. We need a screenplay, so click on it (don't forget to add the name of the episode).
All the episodes created in this way will be on the left panel of the project.
But what if we have finished the first season and want to group all the episodes in one place, so that they are not mixed up with the second season later? Here again, the "+ Add Document" button helps us, but this time we choose a folder, not a script, in the window that appears.
Now click on the document with the screenplay of each series or select the first one, press Shift, select the last one and drag the whole group to the desired folder. The screenplays are grouped by season and are waiting there on the left sidebar.
And what if after a successful launch of a series we suddenly want to write a comic book, a stage play, an audio drama or even a novel in the same universe? Then we should again turn to the "+ Add Document" button and in the window that appears select the type of document we are interested in.
Now you know that with Story Architect you can easily write a series of several thousand episodes with accompanying spin-offs of all possible forms. It's just a matter of starting to write.
