Every writer has a burnout and writer’s block from time to time. The best remedy for such illness is a gradual return to work. To avoid overloading yourself, but at the same time get dopamine from coping with small tasks, we recommend using a timer for writing sessions in the Story Architect app.
If you don't have Story Architect app yet or downloaded it a second ago, read the instructions. Briefly: go to the download page, go through the standard program installation procedure and create a project inside. A step by step guide to getting to know Story Architect is here.
The timer is available to authorized users, so log in and click on the main menu button - the three bars in the upper left corner. In the window that appears, choose the timer icon.
When you click on this icon at the top of the working field you will see a timer line - here you can set the time and start the countdown.
After you press the start button, a bar appears at the top of the screen showing how much time has passed and how close you are to the end of the sprint. If you decide to increase or decrease the session time, click on the bar and enter a new value. When you come to the end of your sprint, you will see a card with a number representing how many words you were able to write in the allotted time. You can immediately share the result with friends and colleagues - just click on the Twitter icon.
Next, you can take a break and repeat the sprint by clicking on the appropriate button. The program will remember the duration of your last session and offer to set the same time, but if you want, you can enter any timing.
That's just the way you can make yourself get up to speed and develop the habit of systematic writing. After all, this kind of activity requires the strictest discipline, and Story Architect will help you achieve it comfortably and without unnecessary stress.
